Jose A. Merced, 32, of Worcester, was arrested Saturday, Jan. 30, about 13 hours after the shooting victim had died, DA Joseph D. Early, Jr., said in a statement.
The initial violence took place on July 9 around 5 p.m. on Mount Pleasant Street. This is where Worcester Police found a man, Luis Tiru-Romero, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his chest and head, according to MassLive.
The victim had remained hospitalized since the shooting.
Merced had previously been indicted on charges related to the shooting including armed assault to murder. He was arraigned Monday. Merced had been out on bail when police nabbed him Saturday.
Merced is being held without bail, Early said and has a court date on March 1.
